Fort Lewis Cemetery Take exit 120 off of I5. From the main gate go approximately 2.7 miles following the road to the cemetery. The road changes from 41st Division Drive to Railroad (1.7 miles) to Cemetery Drive.
At the center of the cemetery, a circle has been named in honor of the Fort Lewis founder, David Lamme Stone, a captain of the Engineer Corps. Camp Lewis was built in 1917. Stone returned to Fort Lewis in 1936 as a brigadier general, and then major general, to command the post he was so instrumental in building. In the center of the circle are two markers, one placed in honor of all unknown American soldiers who gave their lives for their country; the second marker pays homage to Stone-the Father of Fort Lewis. This web updated 25 May 2009 2000 R E Crouch This site may be freely linked to but not duplicated in any fashion without my consent. The index is complete. There are also five (5) pioneer cemeteries on Fort Lewis. These have been added as a separate web page "Fort Lewis Pioneer Cemeteries" Some of the photos are not great and I will replace them shortly. Additionally I hope to add a few historical facts to four of the new additions.
